Better Medical

Better Medical is a group of GP practices across South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria. Each practice needed its own website, with its own name, logo and local information, but the group wanted a consistent look and feel across all of them.

They also needed a way to add new practices without starting from scratch each time, and to keep every site secure without the cost and admin of managing dozens of separate websites.

We started working with Better Medical in 2019 and set up a framework for running many websites as one system. Using Craft CMS multisite, each clinic is a site within a shared installation. The sites share branding and a common template structure, while each keeps its own logo, colours, team, services and content.

We manage the sites through three separate Craft installs, and today we build, host and look after 46 practice websites:

• 23 practices in South Australia and Tasmania

• 14 practices in Queensland

• 9 practices in Victoria

We provide the hosting and apply CMS security updates, build new sites as practices join the group, and add functionality and customisations as the group needs them.

• One consistent brand across every practice, with each clinic still keeping its own identity.

• New practices are added to an existing install instead of being built from scratch, which keeps the cost and time of each new site down.

• Updates, security patches and new features are applied once and reach every site in that install, so maintenance doesn't grow with each new practice.

• One team, one hosting arrangement and one point of contact for 46 websites.

• A setup that has grown with the group, from the first practices in 2019 to 46 sites across four states.
