The brief

Each year, the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) publishes its Rail Safety Report, with national statistics, key themes and case studies for the rail industry. The 2024-25 edition was the first to be published as an interactive digital report, not a static document.

The report needed a website that made a large amount of safety data easy to explore, and easy to navigate for industry readers who want to get straight to the part that matters to them.

What we did

We built the Rail Safety Report 2024-25 as its own website, separate from the main ONRSR site. The site gives the report its structure and navigation: a summary, statistics, areas of focus, benchmarking, a case study and an appendix, with search to find what you need.

The statistics are interactive Power BI reports embedded in the site. ONRSR produces and manages them, so we don't manage the embedded presentation. Our part is the website that frames them and makes them easy to find and read on a phone, tablet or desktop.

We host the site and look after it. It is part of our wider work with ONRSR, alongside the National Level Crossing Portal.
